Ronald “The Crab” Carabbia was the Cleveland Mob soldier who allegedly delivered and detonated the car bomb that killed Irish-American gangster Danny Greene. Greene’s rivals, including soon-to-be Mob boss James Licavoli, had discovered the time and location of Greene’s dentist appointment, scheduled for October 6, 1977, in Lyndhurst, Ohio. Under Licavoli’s orders, Carabbia drove a bomb-laden Chevy Nova to the parking lot of Greene’s dentist. When Greene returned to his car after his appointment, Carabbia remotely detonated the bomb, instantly killing Greene. Carabbia served 24 years for the murder, was paroled in 2002, and died in 2021 at the age of 92.
